Slots.com bought out by BodogBrand

Saturday, 05 June 2010 - 10:40 Slots.com bought out by BodogBrand

Online gaming leviathan BodogBrand.com has recently added Slots.com to its collection of sites. Considered the second most powerful generic domain name, Slots.com was bought up at an online auction, via Snapnames.com, for a cool £4 million. This was comfortably the largest figure paid for an internet domain name this year.

Bodog's founder Calvin Ayre, claims to have "sat on a bar stool in London's L'Atelier restaurant bidding millions for one of the biggest gaming domains in the world!" – a fair indication of how the mobile internet has revolutionised big business dealings.

Ayre considered the Slots.com domain name to be the best in the world after Casino.com and that it would prove more lucrative than the Poker.com domain, as slots are "more universal."

And the statistics would prove him right. Slots are considered to earn more worldwide revenue than any other casino game while "slots" as a keyword rates over 6 million searches on Google per month.

Bodog is already the biggest name in online gaming and entertainment, but Slots.com won't be added to the Bodog casino site. Instead, the plan is for BodogBrand.com to licence their new asset to other gambling operators.

Ayre and Bodogbrand.com Ambassador, Rebecca Liggero stated that the first market they will hit is female gamblers. In the words of Liggero: "domains like this have value in their simplicity and being generic can be moulded to suit different players – the female market being an obvious target."
