Now that qualification for the PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge has begun, many hopefuls will be looking to test their skills against the pros, and some talented celebrities, in this exciting TV contest. The player to come out on top will be pitted against world-famous poker ace Daniel Negreanu for the $1 million prize.

Qualification is free until 8th December: free rolls will be held four times a day at the PokerStars online poker site and players who finish in the top 20 will be able to qualify the show. But PokerStars will be demanding more from their potential contestants – a two-minute video, explaining why you should be chosen to play for $1 million, will also be required.

The lucky few who do get to play in front of the cameras will first be entered into preliminary matches, worth up to $25,000, but Negreanu will be there to give them a helping hand. Those who manage to beat the competition at this stage can choose to enter a $100,000 all-or-nothing game against Negreanu or hold on to their winnings.

Last season a former police officer named Mike Kowsowski, who was forced into retirement after being badly injured during the 9/11 attacks, managed to beat Negreanu to walk away with the main prize.
