Gabi Campos Named New Chief Executive Officer at Poker Stars
Monday, 26 July 2010 - 07:59It has been recently reported that Gabi Campos, a former 888.com official, has just been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer for Pokerstars.
Campos was leading Dragonfish, a business to business subsidiary of 888.com, and it is believed that she left the position after financial reports were disclosed to stockholders. According to these reports, 888’s figures had decreased, but Dragonfish, which had provided roughly 20% of revenue for its parent company, had made a year-on-year increase of 33%.
Campos is expected to be announced CEO at Pokerstars in October, 2010. However, the Pokerstars hierarchy will largely remain unchanged. Isai Scheinberg, the company’s founder, will still have the most control as Chief Technical Officer, while his son Mark will fill the role of Chairman.
But as Pokerstars is a privately owned company, there is some confusion as to what Campos’ role as CEO will actually entail. The fact that there is no stockholders means that she will not have to chase down potential buyers of shares or convince existing stockholders to stay, should the company experience a downturn.
It is believed the most likely function of the role will be to provide Pokerstars with a recognisable leader – something which they had never had in the past – in an effort to improve public relations and boost the company’s media profile.
