Bwin Launch New French Site
Monday, 21 June 2010 - 11:16
European online gaming company Bwin has just announced that it has launched a new website, Bwin.fr, tailor-made for users in France. Bwin was one of eleven companies (and the only foreign operator) to be granted a licence to offer their services in the country after new gaming laws were passed this June.
Previously, French users could only play poker online for fun, but with the recent changes to the law it is set to become a hotly-contested territory. Worth noting, however, is that these changes now mean users in France can no longer play through bwin.com.
Bwin.fr is currently offering sports betting and poker and, to get things started, the site is expanding its betting line-up to accommodate the demand for the World Cup. 300 sports bets as well as 200 live bets will be offered for each game – giving a total of 32,000 bets available throughout the competition. Other sports will be catered for and bwin.fr is also taking bets on the US Open and WTA tennis.
For poker, the site is now running the 'L'initiation' challenge, where new players can enter four-tier Sit & Go tournaments, leading to the 'Grand Soir' tournament, which has an impressive €20,000 prize pool.
